The L9 discuss future success

The world’s regional and national associations gathered together at Labelexpo Europe 2013 to discuss pertinent issues within the label and printed packaging industry. Sustainability, training and emerging technology adoption is at the forefront of this global interaction. Collaboration will be vital for future success.

This video features interviews with the following:

Dan Muenzer from Spear USA (TLMI) says that sustainability is probably the single biggest joint initiative that the label industry is facing around the world. Each region has their own issues and the L9 has committed towards working on overcoming them – matrix waste, release liner collection and waste reduction– together.

Vivek Kapoor of Creative Labels (LMAI) and Sandeep Zaveri from Total Print Solutions (LMAI) explain that the depreciating Rupee and the rising cost of raw materials is challenging for Indian label converters, similar to what the rest of the L9 group is experiencing. Both leaders also speak on being more aggressive with the young manager groups within the regional associations.

Bill Bamford of Impressions International (LATMA) agrees that cultivating the industry’s young people to lead the industry forward is imperative for long-term, small label business success in Australia and around the world.

Mark Jackson of LabelTec (SALMA) based in New Zealand stresses the importance of an ongoing education and training program for young people in the label and packaging industry, both local and global.

Darren Milligan with Avery Dennison (LATMA) says that the Australian association is looking into the adoption of a ratio study as a benefit for converter members.
