Rommel GmbH, a provider of traceability and board handling solutions, has announced the official rollout of the new laser labeling installation 'WL 2010 LC' at the SMT 2006 in Nuremberg.

In recent years the traceability of goods has gained significantly in importance. As a result of an ever-increasing division of labor it is technically no longer possible to fully trace back the origin of all individual process steps up to the final product along the entire value chain. In particular for security-relevant applications the number of the electronic components applied has been rising steadily. As a consequence the provider of the final product faces more and more liability risks.

The resulting anonymous production chain poses risks. Traceability and the labeling of components do away with a product's anonymity and the different companies or even continents involved will be made transparent. Rommel GmbH provides this market with optimum solutions.

The 'WL 2010 LC' product line is Rommel's third generation of labeling installations. It is a thoroughly thought through system capable of offering the operator the maximum amount of comfort, safety and performance. The 'WL 2010 LC' CO 2 laser labeling installation shines with its fiducal measurement providing absolute precision. Due to the indicated input position of board stacks, a test mark for automatically selecting the most suitable performance parameters and the position detection of bad boards, the system possesses highly technological features for improving product quality. Easy operation, short cycle times, duplex labeling and top reliability in a three-shift operation make the 'WL 2010 LC' ‘the leading system in the market’, according to a company statement.
