UNI Packaging makes digital investment

UNI Packaging has become one of the first companies to provide a digital print capability for flexible packaging after investing in an HP Indigo WS6600 digital press.

This has allowed it to add Digiflex to its offering, which it said is the result of three years of collaboration with HP, and represents a major technical breakthrough in its flexible packaging print options.

It can now offer a high print quality while having the ability to produce incredibly short runs – as little as one pack – making it ideal for small and medium sized promotional campaigns. Further benefits UNI Packaging has highlighted include the ability to print variable data for special promotions or pack traceability, and quick job turnaround.

Franck Caresmel, chief executive officer of UNI Packaging, said: ‘When combined with demands for fast turnarounds, high quality, vibrant colours and shorter runs, Digiflex puts the group in a position to meet these demands. Production runs that were previously not possible due to cost and timescale reasons are now viable.

‘We can offer variable data printing for special promotions, marketing campaigns and pack traceability – the addition of batch and security numbering no longer has to be a separate process. Language versions, image changes and personalization can also be carried out without stopping the press.’
