Wifag-Polytype Technologies debuts Techma-4

Wifag-Polytype Technologies has given a debut to its Techma-4 printing press at an Open House event in Switzerland during June.

Techma-4 allows digital printing with water-based inkjet inks on plastic and aluminum foils

The event in Fribourg acted as a launch for Wifag-Polytype Technologies, a joint venture between Wifag and Polytype Converting, with a pilot version of the Techma-4 printing press part of the program.

The Techma-4 is a roll-to-roll printing press that allows digital printing with water-based inkjet inks on plastic and aluminum foils. The technology is also suitable for printing on food packaging.

The press can print 27in-wide (680mm-wide) foil and paper webs at a speed of up to 328ft/min (100m/min) in four colors, wet-on-wet. Downstream of that is a 15ft-long (4.5m-long) hybrid drying section, featuring IR with changeable wave length plus hot-air drying.
