Tapp Label names new executive team
Tapp Label Company has named its new executive team following the successful merger of its four printing locations into one entity.
The merger of Tapp Label’s four printing locations into one entity was finalized on December 31, 2014, and accelerates Tapp Label’s vision of providing regional service to its customers by operating facilities in every major wine market in North America.
As a result, Tapp Label is now operating in Napa and Livermore in California, Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, British Columbia. Its manufacturing capabilities include a full range of digital, offset and flexographic printing and decoration capabilities.
David Bowyer (pictured) is to serve as president and chief executive officer of this newly formed company, and has named Steven Miller, Rod Smith, Brian Sharpe and David DeRuiter as members of the executive team who will be leading Tapp Label’s operations.
Miller, now Tapp Label Company vice-president and general manager, has been in the printing industry for 46 years, including 31 years of plant management and continuous improvement management for global printers like RR Donnelley, Quebecor World, York Label and Staples. His experience has taken him across the US and into South America, Western Europe and Asia.
Smith, vice-president of sales and marketing, brings 30 years of experience in sales management and business development in national markets in the printing, packaging and consumer products industries. In his last position as the director of sales of the label division at Staples, he built and led a focused national sales team targeting national and regional brands. He brings with him a career of experience in all platforms of printing, narrow and sheet-fed production, branding and organizational development.
Sharpe, vice-president of finance, has more than 19 years of accounting and financial management experience in a variety of industries, with the last five years having been with Tapp Label. Alongside managing the finances of 100-plus million USD companies and performing due diligence on one billion USD companies, Brian has served as project manager on ERP implementations as well as participated in numerous acquisitions.
DeRuiter, vice-president of human resources (HR), moved into human resources after a decade in international teaching. Since that time, he has quickly progressed as a valuable business partner and HR manager. He joined Tapp Label three years ago as HR manager and has now been promoted to its executive team.
