ECRM and Agfa announce agreement for Latin America

ECRM Imaging Systems and Agfa-Gevaert do Brasil have entered into a marketing agreement that will enable Agfa Graphics to market, distribute and service ECRM CTP solutions in Mexico, Central America and South America.
According to an industry forecast report, presented at Graphics of the Americas 2009, the 11 largest economies in the LATAM region are expected to grow by 4.8 percent in 2009 (to US $5.837 trillion), despite recent downshifts. In addition, 72 percent of the region’s commercial printers indicated a growth strategy that includes ‘Investment in new equipment and technologies’. More specifically, the corresponding survey asked, ‘If you still don’t have a CTP system (79 percent of participants), when does your company plan to purchase one?’ To this question, 49 percent of the printers responded with either 2009 or 2010.
‘For many printers the increased availability of violet CTP plates meets a critical need which will enable them to take advantage of the significant ecological and economical benefits of violet computer-to-plate production,’ noted ECRM Latin American business manager Ed Millhorn. ‘Our patented flatbed violet laser imaging technology has been designed to exceed the printer’s needs for quality and productivity, while ensuring maximum cost and energy efficiencies. We’re proud to working with Agfa, and we view this as further validation of our status as the leader in violet laser imaging for CTP.’
