DuPont recently launched the Dupont Cromalin blue and the DuPont Cromalin Largo proofing systems at two UK venues. The first was held in the Britannia Hotel in London and the second at Komori’s demo suite at its UK headquarters in Leeds. Delegates from the event were impressed with the benefits of the two new products and the main attraction seemed to be the speed of which a proof could be output without loss of quality.

Both events proved to be a great success with customers and potential customers attending from within the publishing and printing industry across the UK.

DuPont also took this opportunity to provide updates on its recently launched large format inkjet printer the DuPont Cromaprint.

Jim Walker, UK sales manager, DuPont Colour Communication, said, ‘The event was a big hit with customers, and the feedback to our new products was very positive. We’re not surprised by this reaction, as both products have been designed to meet very specific market needs for speed and quality at an affordable price. The Cromalin blue is a very high quality machine and is aimed at publishers and printers producing color critical work. The Cromalin Largo is perfect for high quality imposition proofs at up to three times the speed of other inkjet printers.’

The Cromalin blue has been developed to meet growing requirements for increased production speeds and cost-efficiency from a premium quality proofing system. Cromalin blue utilizes a new generation print head which enables 1500 dpi optical resolution output at a speed of 12 minutes for B2 size or seven minutes for B3 size.

As with the entire family of DuPont proofing solutions, the Cromalin blue consists exclusively of DuPont designed components, engine, inks, paper and DuPont Cromanet color management software to ensure consistency and image stability. Designed specifically to address the needs of the high-end proofing market, where repeatable quality is paramount.

The second addition to the Cromalin proofing family is the Cromalin Largo inkjet proofing systems also driven by Cromanet color management software, which produces high quality proofs. The total package has been developed to address the needs for high resolution proofing at a new low cost position.

The Cromalin Largo is a ‘plug and play’ system which, incorporated into print production workflows, can improve approval cycles, turnaround times and proof-to-press accuracy. Largo uses the latest drop-on-demand inkjet (DOD) technology with roll-fed proofing substrates. Two Cromalin Largo versions are available with a 24” width for 4-up proofing and 44” width for 8-up signatures or wide format graphics.

One of DuPont’s long-standing customers, Geoff Hitchen, Rivendell Europe Limited, the Leeds based reprographics and design company said, ‘We are very interested in the two new products. Rivendell has been a DuPont customer for over 13 years and they are a company we have come to trust and enjoy working with. We recently purchased the Cromalin b2 which is running extremely well. As a large company we are always looking to improve our workflow and I am looking forward to seeing the proofs these two machines can produce as we are sure they will carry on the Cromalin reputation of color accurate proofs every time.’
