FIG celebrates a successful Labelexpo India 2024

Flexo Image Graphics (FIG), an authorized distributor of flexo presses and allied equipment from the world’s leading brands in the Indian sub-continent, marked a successful participation at Labelexpo India 2024, held from November 14 – 17 at India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida, Delhi-NCR.

The company demonstrated machines from Rhyguan and others accompanied by landmark sealing of big deals with some of the leading label and packaging companies.

FIG is an authorized distributor of leading brands such as Mark Andy, Rhyguan, Rotoflex, Luster, Kluge, KDS Quantum, Presstek, DYM Machinery and DCM ATN.

‘Labelexpo India 2024 was positive and the show’s overall atmosphere reflected the industry’s determination to drive a profound dynamic in order to make the printing & packaging industry more productive, innovative, and sustainable with the latest machines, equipment, and solutions,’ informed Gourav Roy, managing director, Flexo Image Graphics.

He continued: ‘It was really one of the most successful editions of Lebelexpo India till date for FIG. On all three days of the show, we received overwhelming response from trade visitors showing keen interest in all which we presented and demonstrated at our booth as technological advancements and innovations that inspired the printing, packaging, and label industries. We feel great that some landmark deals of machines had been announced during the show.’

With the presence of partner delegates from Mark Andy, Rhyguan and DCM ATN, FIG witnessed a jam of new buyers at its booth. Mumbai-based Barcom Industries finalized two Mark Andy presses from FIG. Being an old ally of FIG, Barcom has already been using a string of Mark Andy machines and the two more new flexo presses have been booked for boosting its productivity.

Gurugram-based Meraki Propack was FIG’s new customer which booked a Rhyguan TOP 520 dual die-cutting machine. A leading provider of label and packaging tailored to brands requirements, Dehradun-headquartered Zircon Industries is yet another FIG’s long-term customer that booked five finishing systems from the French company DCM ATN, first installations of the machines in India from FIG.

Roy added: ‘We are very pleased with how Lebelexpo India 2024 went. Our booth was well attended. Apart from generating many leads, we were grateful to seal some landmark deals on site with some key players.’

In the post-sales, FIG serves its customers through a centralized ‘Customer Support Department’ operated from the company’s head office in Delhi connecting with Mumbai and Chennai branches.

Lizi’s Granola, by UK cereal manufacturer Life Health Foods, has received a Gold Award at the 2024 Crescents and Stars for Packaging Awards. The packaging has been manufactured by Korozo Group.

Crescents and Stars for Packaging Competition which is traditionally organized by the Turkish Packaging Manufacturers Association (ASD) every two years. The competition is open to packaging products manufactured and launched by Turkish and other companies abroad.

Claiming a Gold Award, the pack’s structure features Korozo’s proprietary KoroRCY film laminated to a white PE, creating a fully recyclable mono-material stand-up pouch that is in sync with Lizi’s own stated commitment to sustainable practices and choices.

The stand-up pouches are reverse printed in 10 colors using Korozo’s flexo presses and finished with a matte lacquer. UV-resistant gold ink adds to the packs' luxurious appearance, and a special mirror silver ink enhances the metallic elements of the pouch’s design while preserving recyclability. Laser scribing and an integrated zipper enhance the consumer experience when opening and reclosing the pack.

GIP debuts Label Modular HD hybrid press at Labelexpo South China

Chinese digital press supplier GIP (General Inkjet Printing Technology) has confirmed that it will showcase its latest Label Modular series at the coming Labelexpo South China 2024 in Shenzhen, China.

It is a modular digital-flexo hybrid printing press for the label industry, integrating the advantages of digital inkjet technology and traditional flexo printing technology.

Label Modular series combines the rich R&D experience of digital inkjet printing of GIP and the flexo printing technical precipitation of Spande, which is a professional flexo press supplier. It has been comprehensively upgraded in terms of exterior design, printing performance and flexible configuration, to provide customers with high-quality and intelligent label production solutions.

The Label Modular HD adopts Kyocera print heads, 1200x1200 DPI and can achieve 8-color printing, including CMYK+W and three spot colors. Its max printing width reaches 520mm, and the running speed is up to 150m a min.

The Label Modular series adopts a highly modular unit design and can be flexibly configured other units according to the actual production needs of customers, such as flexo printing units, coating, cold/hot stamping, die-cutting and laminating.

Each unit is equipped with rail guide systems, which makes it convenient to add turnover frames, peeling/laminating and laminating units.

According to GIP, Label Modular series will be a perfect solution for not only small-run label orders, but also for mid- and large-run production, achieving a win-win situation in terms of production efficiency and quality.

Girls Who Print, the largest global network of women in the print and graphic communication industry, has presented three awards during the online Girls Who Print Day Conference on November 7.

The 2024 Rising Star Award was presented to Kiki Heron, account manager, training and development leader at Specialty Print Communications, by Kelly Mallozzi, principal at Success in Print, who runs the Girls Who Print mentorship program. The award recognizes women who have stepped up and taken the initiative to proactively help the industry, their company, and their colleagues.

‘I am honored to receive recognition as a young woman in the print industry,’ said Heron. ‘I hope my journey can inspire the next generation of women to pursue careers in this space, confidently share their ideas for innovation, and embrace leadership opportunities.’

The inaugural Girls Who Print Ally Award was presented to Ryan LeFebvre, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Specialty Print Communications. He has supported Girls Who Print for over ten years and created initiatives and events to celebrate Girls Who Print Day. He is also a champion of graphic communication programs, provides internships for students, and has cultivated a culture at SPC where employees can rise and thrive.

‘I am truly humbled and honored to receive the first-ever Girls Who Print Ally Award,’ said LeFebvre. ‘I am passionate about growing the next generation of print professionals and proudly support Girls Who Print. I believe in its importance to the industry now and in the future.’

The pinnacle 2024 Girls Who Print Girlie Award for leadership and community service was presented to Christine Hagopian, president of Printing Industries of New England (PINE). For the past 18 years, she has played a pivotal role in helping her membership thrive in an evolving marketplace through educational initiatives, networking opportunities, and resources that foster growth and innovation.

Hagopian is a staunch supporter of women in the industry, producing and hosting an annual event providing women and allies an opportunity to network and strengthen their relationships, hear from speakers on relevant topics and feel supported by their regional organization.

‘I am honored to be the 2024 Girls Who Print Girlie Award recipient,’ said Hagopian. ‘As the first female president in PINE’s 137 years, it is with pride and passion that I lead this organization and the amazing team at PINE. I work on behalf of our membership without question or hesitation, and to be recognized for that is truly humbling.’

This is Shine LED Lamp Kits' third industry recognition, following the unique double FTA Sustainability Excellence and Innovation Award it received in North America in May 2024.

Zircon finalizes five DCM ATN systems at Labelexpo India 2024

Dehradun-based Zircon Industries, a labels and packaging converter, has signed a deal with Flexo Image Graphics (FIG) to buy five DCM ATN finishing systems. The deal was confirmed at Labelepxo India 2024. The five DCM ATN machines going to Zircon are: Sleeve 6 Intense, Babycat 4, Sleevcut 5 (two units) and Serval.

Sleeve 6 Intense is a seaming and forming machine with a non-stop unwinder and rewinder. It’s fully automatic with permanent lay-flat measurement and control, automatic motorized positioning and a micro-edge guide for seam positioning. Babycat 4 is an inspection and doctoring machine designed to operate both ways with seam quality control. Sleevecut 5 is a sleeve-cutting machine with in-line perforation and rewind. Serval is a slitter rewinder of cantilever design with an integrated unwind shaft and two rewind shafts.

FIG has previously supplied a fleet of presses and equipment to Zircon. ‘Currently, we are running multiple narrow-web flexo printing presses from Mark Andy, an array of Rotoflex post-press equipment and others that were bought from FIG,’ shared Sanjeev Sondhi, director, Zircon Technologies. ‘To standardize our post-press units, we have booked five DCM ATN systems from FIG. We found the finishing systems of these machines perfectly engineered with advanced features for optimum quality, productivity and efficiency.’

Gourav Roy, director, FIG, said: ‘Zircon is swift in implementing the latest machines and technologies, which eventually make them resilient to produce world-class label and packaging solutions. With its headquarters in Dehradun, Zircon boasts multiple production plants in Noida, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Chennai, backed by a team of around 500 employees.’

According to the judging panel: 'It was very well executed. It had many processes of punching, metallic effect and tactile feel. The butterfly was beautifully rendered in the printing process. The wings of the butterfly on the label were not glued and gave a 3D feel of delicate butterfly wings leaving some parts of the bottled ingredient visible below the wings.
It was almost as if a real butterfly was sitting on the bottle.'

Holoflex books Weigang machines at Labelexpo India 2024

India-based Holoflex has bought multiple Weigang finishing and converting machines from Global Graphics Machineries, at Labelexpo India 2024. Holoflex invested in a fully servo-driven shaftless ZM-320 semi-rotary/intermittent die-cutting machine with its patented register die-cutting system and DK-450 slitting machines.

Weigang has done over 1200 installations in the country within 25 years of its establishment in India. The ZM series are intermittent die-cutting machines, driven by German Rexroth-Bosch servo systems. It features pneumatic roll lifters, load-cell-based web tension control systems from Mitsubishi, patented die-cutting units, Rotometrics’ magnetic cylinder and anvil rollers. Due to the semi-rotary technology, the machine facilitates second-pass die-punching in register without changing the magnetic cylinder tools. The software allows die-cutting precisely in millimeters providing an added advantage. The equipment can be custom-built with 15 different in-line functions for the digital finishing machine and used for IML die-cutting.

According to Holoflex, the new machines will allow it to offer tailored security solutions that reflect the unique identity of each brand it serves. Established in 1991, Holoflex manufactures holograms and allied products for brand protection and security.

Manoj Kochar, director, Holoflex said: ‘In line with the Holoflex legacy, we are acquiring Weigang’s advanced ZM-320 converting and finishing equipment which will further enhance our ability to deliver precise, customizable solutions with increased efficiency. This strategic investment underscores Holoflex's dedication to innovation, quality and excellence and ensures that clients benefit from enhanced security and a visually captivating packaging experience.’

Adding to it, Nalin Sharma, director, Global Graphics Machineries, said: ‘Weigang machines find place with prominent Indian label and hologram converters.
