Ecco Print takes delivery of HP Indigo 6K

Danish label converter Ecco Print has invested in a new HP Indigo 6K to enhance its digital label production capacity, reliability, efficiency and high-quality output. Once fully operational, the company will be better positioned to meet market demands for high-quality and sustainable labels.

Following the successful installation of its Bobst Master M5 flexo press, the new HP Indigo 6K marks the company’s second HP machine joining already operating HP Indigo 6800. With this new addition, Ecco Print ensures continued reliability, efficiency and high-quality output in its digital printing operations.

‘We see great potential with the HP Indigo 6K, which will give us increased flexibility and seamless integration with our existing digital workflow. Having an HP Indigo 6800 and an HP Indigo 6K means we can maintain consistency in production while benefiting from the latest technological advancements,’ said Jan Viberg Elleriis, owner of Ecco Print.

With the latest investment, Ecco Print gains an equipment that maximizes efficiency, reduces time-to-market and ensures seamless workflow integration.

The press offers advanced color matching with HP Indigo Spot Master, improved front-end efficiencies through HP Indigo Production Pro DFE and end-to-end automation enabled by HP PrintOSX.

These capabilities allow Ecco Print to meet increasing customer demands while maintaining the high standards set by their existing HP Indigo technology.

Epson SurePress models receive Idealliance certification

Epson’s SurePress digital label press line, the SurePress L-4733AW and SurePress L-6534VW, have been awarded Digital Press System Certification by Idealliance, one of the global leaders in standards and training for print and packaging supply chains.

Both SurePress models using the Wasatch RIP have met the requirements of Idealliance’s Digital Press Certification program, which consists of testing and certification in color, print properties and print production.

With this certification, Epson demonstrates its entire press system, including the digital front-end, print engine and paper, meets or exceeds established industry tolerances for excellence in the areas of colorimetric accuracy, uniformity, repeatability, durability and registration.

‘We understand that label converters’ customers are demanding accurate colors, while also wanting economically priced labels,’ said Mike Pruitt, product manager for SurePress at Epson America. ‘Wherever a customer is printing in the world – whether India or Indiana – this certification proves SurePress models with Wasatch RIPs meet the strict Digital Press System Certification requirements to provide the same high-quality color accuracy from print to print and country to country, which ultimately results in customer satisfaction and minimized rejected orders.’

The Digital Press Certification Program for inkjet systems certifies the capabilities of commercial production inkjet, high speed, cut sheet and web devices to meet specific print standards.

Italian label printer etic.a has installed a Bobst Digital Master 340 all-in-one label press to better meet its customers’ needs for speed, agility and quality, prepare for future challenges and continue its commitment to sustainability.

Rome-based etic.a Labels is a young and dynamic company founded in 2009 by entrepreneurs Patrizia Windfang and Gianni Olivieri. The husband and wife wanted to pursue their dream of building a business by creating an independent production entity which placed the customer at its center. Fifteen years later, the family-owned company has grown significantly and now employs some 50 people with an average age of just 35.

etic.a has the expertise and technologies needed to print all types of self-adhesive labels for its client base, which includes some of the most important brand owners nationally and internationally.

Technology investments remain a key strategy for growth and success. This led the team to the Bobst Digital Master 340, an all-in-one printing machine based on a modular and scalable architecture.

Debora Tagliapietra, sales director at etic.a, said: ‘In our market, production batch sizes are reducing due to the increase in SKUs. This trend is evident even in medium-large companies – our key clients. Since one of our most appreciated characteristics is fast delivery times, to strengthen this advantage, we decided to add an all-in-one Bobst machine alongside our standalone digital one. This allows us to eliminate the second pass, making us more competitive.’

Windfang added: ‘The purchase of an all-in-one Bobst machine represents a new milestone in a journey full of ambition and challenges. For an industrial entity like etic.a that wants to maintain the spirit of a family company while adopting a managerial approach, this is a significant step.’

The new machine has been operational for several months. Combining the capabilities of flexo and recent inkjet developments, this all-in-one technology offers a fully digitalized production process, from printing and finishing to die-cutting in a single pass.

Vito Di Martino, operational director at etic.a, commented: ‘When we decided to purchase a hybrid printing machine, we already had an inkjet printer, but we were looking for a system that could handle all labels, finished and embellished, in one step.

‘After conducting market research, we chose Bobst for the technological value and the quality and size of the digital system. The integration of traditional technologies with digital from a single manufacturer is, from our point of view, an added benefit because we only need one point of contact for installation and long-term maintenance.’

The results in terms of efficiency and productivity of this fully digitalized and automated production line have met expectations, and the company is very satisfied with the choice.

Leonardo Pasquini, the operator who works daily on the machine, added: ‘When the Bobst Digital Master 340 was installed, we immediately realized its great potential. ABG confirms participation at Labelexpo Mexico

A B Graphic International (ABG) has confirmed its plans for Labelexpo Mexico, bringing two leading machines to the show floor. The company will demonstrate Digicon Series 3, configured for high-end embellishment, and its Seaming Rewinder from its shrink sleeve range. The event occurs on April 1-3 at Expo Guadalajara, Mexico.

The Digicon Series 3 is a highly modular machine configured for premium beverage labels and high-end embellishments. This machine showcases a 50t Big Foot hot foil and embossing unit, a high-speed screen module for varnish and tactile effects, and a semi-rotary flexo unit. These modules offer cutting-edge equipment that delivers high-quality embellishment, helping brands create striking, standout labels.

Alongside labels, ABG also manufactures shrink-sleeve machines. The company is presenting its Seaming Rewinder (SR) from this range, an innovative machine with many installations worldwide, including in South America. This machine converts flat film reels into single or multiple sleeves, ensuring a precise and reliable weld thanks to ABG’s Smart Wheel technology. This technology optimizes the solvent application for greater consistency and reduced waste, which is essential in the shrink sleeve industry.

Karamello invests in HP Indigo and ABG equipment

Swedish packaging and branding specialist Karamello has invested strategically in advanced printing technology, including HP Indigo and ABG equipment, to increase its production capacity. Visutech, a representative of both brands in the region, supplied the machinery.

As one of the leading players in packaging and branding promotional confectionery, Karamello has undertaken a significant investment in digital printing technology, installing multiple new presses through Visutech, a supplier of digital production equipment in the Nordic market.

Karamello has strengthened its production capacity and created new business opportunities by investing in an HP Indigo 6900 pre-owned press, with 7 colors and with an In-line priming unit, as well as an AB Graphics Digicon Series 3 with the possibility to run both labels and flexible packaging.

The goal of this investment is to improve production reliability, shorten lead times for customers, and guarantee high-quality printing.

To meet the increased demand and expand production capacity, Karamello has hired new employees for its production unit in Linköping. Additionally, some of the production that was previously handled overseas has now been relocated to Sweden, resulting in the creation of more local jobs.

‘Our vision is to be the obvious choice for promotional printed confectionery in the Nordic region. With this investment, we ensure high quality and an efficient production chain while also opening up new business areas,’ commented Henrik Hovlind, CEO of Karamello.

This new digital printing technology enhances Karamello's market position and allows the company to offer printing services to other customers. Karamello plans to expand its offerings beyond confectionery and provide customized printing for various industries.

Spectrum Digital Labels has added a second digital press from Dantex Group: the PicoJet 1200 DRS with CMYK + white and in-line flexo and lamination capabilities.

Following the installation of a PicoJet 330 in 2021, which has since produced over 100 million labels, Spectrum wanted to increase its existing capacity while extending its reach into the food packaging sector. The addition of a second press will support this growth by increasing label printing volumes and enabling high-performance printing on film-based packaging materials.

Spectrum decided to invest in a second PicoJet because of Dantex's digital technology expertise, customer service and technical support. Key factors in its choice included enhanced unwind and rewind systems for improved tension stability and additional corona and cooling units. In addition, the pre-digital LED flexo station enables flood coat printing and priming, expanding the range of materials Spectrum can process.

Joe Preddy, managing director at Spectrum Digital Labels, said: 'Our first PicoJet has been a fantastic investment, proving to be an absolute workhorse in production. As our business continues to grow, particularly into new markets such as food packaging, it made complete sense to invest in a PicoJet 1200 DRS.
