TC Chou receives Achievement Award of the Year
TC Chou of Cymmetrik Group has been recognized with the Achievement Award of the Year at the recent Label Industry China 2023 Awards during a gala evening on the second day of Labelexpo Asia 2023.
The Achievement Award recognizes an individual who contributed to the promotion and growth of the label industry in the Chinese market and has been a high-profile industry influencer and motivator.
The Label Awards judging panel commented: ‘TC Chou is a worthy winner of the China Achievement Award. This recognizes his unique contribution through the Cymmetrik Group, where he has worked for 43 years.’
TC Chou started as vice president of the household chemicals division in the Cymmetrik Group in 1979 and continued until 2022. He was also the founder and leader of Cymmetrik Shanghai in 1995 before he spent three years analyzing the label market in mainland China.
During a 27-year career as the leader of Cymmetrik Shanghai, Chou has overseen some significant investments in cutting-edge technological transformation. These include the first user in the Chinese label industry of Japanese satellite letterpress machines, American flexo printing presses, rotary screen technology, combining gravure units on a flexo press, servo-driven flexo presses and Esko-HD plate-making technology.
He has devoted his career to developing the skills of the company’s employees. Today, the talented individuals Chou has nurtured, work at label converters all over East and South China.
Chou is also the highly popular and respected president of the China label industry branch of the Huangpu Military Academy.
Cymmetrik Group is a prestigious label converter headquartered in Taiwan. It was registered in Taipei in 1969 and entered the electronic label industry in 1981. Then, it expanded into the household chemical label sector in 1986 and built factories in Shanghai and Shenzhen in 1995.
The family-owned Cymmetric now employs over 5,000 people, operates 13 manufacturing plants and two offices in Taipei, Tainan, Shenzhen, Kunshan, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Yantai, Chongqing, Henan, North Vietnam, South Vietnam, Thailand, the United States and Shanghai.
Cymmetric’s annual production has reached over 12 billion labels, of which household chemical labels account for around 60 percent.
The judging panel consisted of Xu Wencai, chairman of the Packaging printing and label committee of the China Packaging Federation; Yin Jinhua, industry expert; Wang Yang, managing editor of CI Flexo Tech magazine and Yolanda Wang, editor of Labels&Labeling magazine. The judging panel was chaired by Andy Thomas-Emans, strategic director of Tarsus Labels & Packaging Group.
