Mark Andy to focus on sustainable technologies at Labelexpo Americas

The participation in this initiative underscores the company’s ongoing commitment to best sustainability practices.

Mark Andy has joined the Waste Removal Program, Labelexpo Americas 2024’s sustainability initiative, organized in cooperation with Convergen Energy. The company will divert all print waste materials from landfills, including pressure-sensitive labelstock waste, release liner and matrix waste.

‘We are thrilled once again to be part of Labelexpo’s Waste Removal Program,’ said Shannon Stamberger, director of Mark Andy’s Innovation Center. ‘Our commitment to sustainability is a core aspect of our operations, and this collaboration allows us to take significant steps toward minimizing our environmental impact at the show.’

In addition to the waste removal initiative, Mark Andy is collaborating with co-suppliers Siegwerk, Bonset America and Karlville to ensure that all shrink film printed samples at the company’s booth are recognized by the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR). This recognition confirms that design for recyclability of the sleeve label meets APR requirements, further enhancing Mark Andy’s pro-sustainability efforts.

Mark Andy will also showcase the Synchronous Pre-register/Re-register System. Featured in all its digital presses, it reduces waste during setup and production and improves operational efficiencies by synchronizing the print start between the flexographic and digital printing stations. It will be demonstrated on the Pro MAX and Digital Series HD presses during the show.

Additionally, the company will demonstrate a range of software designed to improve production floor efficiency and sustainability – from reducing setup waste through advanced job preparation in ProWorx Label Suite to saving ink with digital color management techniques built into ProWorx Digital Front End.

The ProWorx Analytics features detailed press data collection, real-time monitoring, and analytics that include waste and downtime tracking. It also enhances pre-press and color workflow efficiencies while collecting data on overall equipment effectiveness and waste metrics, enabling converters to optimize their processes for digital-hybrid and traditional printing systems.

Visitors to Labelexpo Americas 2024 can learn more about Mark Andy’s sustainable technologies and see live demonstrations of its printing presses at Booths 310 and 424.
