G Rigging & Lighting improves inventory management with Bixolon

The company chose Bixolon's XD5-40t 300 DPI thermal transfer printer and third-party wireless 2D rugged scanners to enhance its inventory management.

Bixolon Europe, a subsidiary of Bixolon, a manufacturer of advanced receipt, label, and mobile printers, has integrated its barcode labeling technology into UK-based independent event specialist G Rigging & Lighting’s inventory management system, providing an improved stock identification and delivery system for the business.

Founded in 2011, G Rigging & Lighting is a provider of tailored rigging and lighting products for various events, from concerts and festivals to film productions and exhibitions. With a commitment to delivering high-quality services, G Rigging & Lighting sought to replace its manual stock identification and tracking systems with an automated barcode system to ensure the timely availability of equipment to its customers.

Working with Bixolon and Global Auto ID, Bixolon’s implementation partner, G Rigging & Lighting chose Bixolon’s XD5-40t 300 DPI thermal transfer desktop label printer and third-party wireless 2D rugged scanners to improve its inventory management systems and streamline operations. As a result, Bixolon’s technology now enables G Rigging & Lighting to label all assets with a unique barcode, which can then be scanned to manage stock levels more efficiently. This allows for the provision of real-time insights to enable improved decision-making regarding quoting, booking and provision of its equipment, compared to the previous manual process.

Additionally, Bixolon's printing solutions have enabled G Rigging & Lighting to automate manual tasks, reduce staff labor costs, and improve overall productivity. The system offers precise updates on stock availability and delivery schedules, elevating service quality and customer satisfaction. Moreover, it generates comprehensive audit trails and reports, ensuring regulatory compliance and accountability for regulations such as PAT testing schedules. By minimizing errors and discrepancies in stock records, the barcode system reduces costs associated with stock-outs, overstocking, and order fulfilment errors, contributing to a more efficient and cost-effective operation.

Joe Gee, director, G Rigging & Lighting, said: ‘We utilized the label printer to apply barcodes to our assets in stages, facilitating a gradual implementation of the solution rather than an immediate full-scale rollout which worked well for us.

‘The Bixolon printer has demonstrated reliability and simplicity in both setup and operation and in conjunction with Global Auto ID Ltd, has significantly improved our inventory management processes, allowing us to streamline operations and better serve our customers with a fast, accurate and reliable stock identification and tracking system.’

Jay Kim, managing director of Bixolon Europe, said: ‘The collaboration with G Rigging & Lighting marks another successful integration of Bixolon’s barcode labeling technology in the event management sector. We are excited to see how our printing solutions continue to drive efficiencies and customer satisfaction through improved stock control and look forward to continuing to work with G Rigging and Lighting Ltd into the future.’
