Ruxo Labels invests in DPR Taurus
South African converter Ruxo Labels has invested in Taurus, a laser finishing machine developed by Italian machinery specialist DPR, to expand its production capabilities and diversify into new markets.
Intellistor, headquartered in Midrand, South Africa, was established in 2005 and quickly became a reference in the blank label conversion sector and an importer and distributor for various end-user markets and well-established brands.
‘As a company developing the label brand Ruxo Labels in Southern Africa, we are constantly looking for ways to innovate and provide our customers a competitive edge in order to stay ahead of the competition,’ said Chris Roux, managing director at Intellistor. ‘We have been in the label conversion business for seven years now. It has always been a challenge for us to provide our customers with the exact label sizes that they need, with additional challenges of setting up fees and waiting periods,’ commented Jacques Roux, sales manager at Ruxo Labels.
Ruxo Labels’ management team visited Labelexpo Europe 2017, where it was introduced to the DRP equipment for the first time. With headquarters in Milan, Italy, and branches in the USA and UAE, DPR develops and manufactures technologies for the labeling industry. Taurus, newly installed in South Africa, is a laser roll-to-roll system for digital laser cutting and laminating, converting pre-printed media into die-cut labels at high speeds.
DPR team visited South Africa for five days to install the new equipment and train Ruxo Labels’ technical team.
‘It's been a few months since the installation of the DPR Taurus, which went very smoothly. We can now truly provide customized short-run blank rolls and A4 sheet labels. For us, this has opened a new market for us. With this investment, we are now able to cater for any size and quantity doesn’t matter how small or big,’ added Roux.
‘Approximately three years ago, we introduced the Taurus series to the market as an entry-level laser finishing system equipped with the top quality “Made in Italy” mark laser source and galvo scanner technology to offer the best experience and performance in the converting applications,’ said Michael Panzeri, vice president of DPR. ‘We are extremely happy to install the first Taurus machine in South Africa at Ruxo Labels.’
