Coveris increases production capacity
Coveris, one of Europe's leading polyethylene extruders, has invested in a state-of-the-art extruder to expand its offering, thus meeting the growing market demand for recyclable and recycled flexible packaging materials.
Coveris acquired the new equipment to increase productivity in manufacturing shrink and stretch hoods for industrial applications as part of a significant investment program to modernize its site in Montfaucon, France.
The site has undergone a fundamental change over the last few months to accommodate this new machine. It allows Coveris to take a further step forward by modernizing its fleet, increasing productivity and capacity, and reducing its environmental footprint.
This new five-layer coextrusion technology allows the production of polyethylene shrink hoods and polyethylene stretch hoods, including recycled materials (post-consumer recycled plastic - PCR and PIR – post-industrial recycled plastic). This technology enables a standard or non-stick shrink hood with an optimized thickness that can incorporate 50 percent or more recycled material. It also offers a range of thin stretch hoods featuring 30 percent recycled content.
The new equipment also offers in-line printing, water-based ink, up to two colors on both sides, continuous or registered to meet the growing communication needs.
The new range of recyclable and recycled shrink hoods and stretch hoods from Coveris aligns with its vision of No Waste. The company’s sites in Winsford, UK, and Kufstein, Austria, also can produce stretch hood films incorporating recycled content.
