Beta LaserMike at ICE Europe

Beta LaserMike at ICE Europe

Beta LaserMike, a supplier of precision measurement and control solutions, will exhibit its LaserSpeed non-contact measurement system at ICE Europe 2011 in Munich this coming November.

The LaserSpeed encoder helps converters measure the length and speed of product during production more accurately and consistently.

‘Laser-based length and speed measurements have become the standard measurement technology for many common converting applications,’ said Marcel Kloubert, regional sales manager for Germany and Switzerland.  ‘Our LaserSpeed encoder is being used in paper, film, foil, and other material converting processes that involve continuous length measurement, cut control, post-cut length, differential speed, and position control.  Higher measurement accuracy and tighter process control allows converters to realize a number of production efficiencies and bottom-line advantages.’

The LaserSpeed measurement system uses advanced, laser-based technology to measure the length and speed of product during production without making contact with the web.  This laser encoder projects a unique pattern on the surface of the product, and as the product moves, light is scattered back to the LaserSpeed unit.  This information is translated into product speed and pulses are produced to determine the product length, independent of shape, color, or texture.  Length and speed measurements are captured with better than +0.05% accuracy, 0.02% repeatability.  LaserSpeed has no moving parts and is permanently calibrated, reducing the need for routine adjustments and maintenance.

Beta LaserMike offers a complete line of LaserSpeed systems with measurement speeds up to 12,000 m/min and down to the true zero speed, standoff distances up to 1000 mm, and measurement depth of field up to 100 mm.  The company also offers a European certified length measurement system that meets MID (Measuring Instruments Directive) 2004/22/EG requirements.
