Evonik receives TLMI L.I.F.E. certification

Sustainability in the label industry has become a focus in recent years and a number of TLMI members have already become L.I.F.E. certified, which was a key factor in Evonik’s decision to pursue certification. This includes Avery Dennison, Ritrama, UPM Raflatac, WS Packaging, Yerecic Label and Multi-Color Corporation. A full list of L.I.F.E. certified TLMI members can be found here.

Evonik manufactures a relatively new type of silicone-based release coating which cures instantly under UV light. Curing this type of chemistry requires substantially less energy inputs than the more traditional, thermally cured silicones, Evonik said, while its release coatings require no harsh chemicals or solvents.

Evonik marketing manager Liz Patterson said: ‘As a raw material supplier in the industry we see our customers striving to achieve higher integrity in the sustainable packaging arena.  What better way to support our customers and to continue to drive positive change in the industry than having our products and manufacturing facility included in the L.I.F.E program.’
