Miraclon Shine LED Lamp Kit recognized with two awards

The Shine LED Lamp Kit, innovated by Miraclon, has become the first technology to win two prestigious FTA Awards in one year, for innovation and sustainability excellence.

Supplied as a retrofit to existing fluorescent exposure frames, the Shine LED Lamp Kit enables flexo trade shops and printers to gain the efficiency and sustainability benefits of LED exposure technology at a fraction of the cost of a new system. 

The kit improves plate exposure consistency, uniformity and quality, resulting in fewer plate remakes. It increased plate consistency and lower energy consumption.

Joe Tuccito, director of education at the FTA, said: ‘The Shine LED Lamp Kit is remarkable in that it not only delivers major benefits in plate rooms and on press at a significantly lower cost, but is also open to all major flexo plate types and most fluorescent exposure frame types from leading manufacturers.

This makes the product a truly exceptional addition to flexo production technology, one that recognizes and meets the pressing requirements of today’s flexo businesses — to continue investing in efficient, sustainable technology while minimizing capital outlay and controlling running costs.’

Reid Chesterfield, chief technology and innovation officer at Miraclon, added: ‘This is our first FTA Sustainability Excellence Award and fourth FTA Innovation Award. The retrofit kit is indeed popular choice for converters around the globe. In March Spanish flexo trade shop Magnegraf and its sister company Prepack have invested in a retrofit upgrade to Miraclon Shine LED for their existing fluorescent frames to improve quality and consistency of plate exposures.

The US-based flexo packaging trade shop Pacificolor noted significant production and sustainability gains after upgrading from fluorescent exposure to LED technology In February this year.
