CS Labels adds digital flexible packaging as latest step in 'aggressive' growth plan
CS Labels has added flexible packaging in the form of pouches and sachets to its digitally printed product offering, and which it will target at the food and cosmetic markets.
CS Labels said it has undertaken ‘months of extensive product development and testing’ to introduce digitally printed tri-laminate sachets and pouches. The products, which can also offer compliance with food regulations, have already been taken up by a number of clients including a major online home-delivery food brand.
The pouch and sachet market is traditionally tied to volumes in excess of 3,000 linear metres, while CS Labels said its flexible packaging products can be ordered in shorter runs starting from just 1,000 linear metres and meeting the need for shorter runs of multiple SKUs.
Printed onto a specified substrate, which is then sealed and pressure tested, CS Labels said the benefits of digital – shorter runs, plate-free production – mean less stock holding and more flexibility when it comes to campaigns, promotions, versioning, personalization, limited editions and the ability to process very small runs if required.
CS Labels is known for its digital label printing offering, and is the largest digital label printer in Europe using Xeikon technology. It is now expanding into new markets as part of an aggressive growth plan, and has recently moved into the digital heat transfer market.
CS Labels managing director Simon Smith said: ‘This development is yet another giant leap for digital print as well as CS Labels.
‘When I made the decision to focus solely on digital some years ago, and move away from traditional print methods, I had a vision that we’d be much more than just labels. Quite simply digital is offering a power and flexibility that other methods just cannot. The major food and cosmetics companies that we are working with are amazed at what’s possible and they only have to come and talk to us to find out more.
‘When they share their ideas about branding, loyalty and efficiency within packaging campaigns, we are pleased that we can delight them with what we can do with digital. The advent of this new line means we can now expand that offering to an even wider range of packaged products.’
CS Labels is scheduled to make a ‘major announcement’ tomorrow (February 24).
