Label Apeel wins Label of the Year at UK Packaging Awards 2012

Self-adhesive label converter Label Apeel received the award for ‘Label of the Year’ at the UK Packaging Awards held on November 14, 2012.

The winning label, for Gilpin’s Gin, was chosen out of the six other shortlisted for its ‘print quality, and understated elegance, that set new heights for the judges’.

One judge said that the embossing detail on the label was ‘the finest I have ever seen’.

Judges agreed the key element to the label's success is ‘the innovative mix of digital printing with the embossing; each bottle is individually numbered with both a bottle number and a batch number. The overall result is an ultra-premium look that will give the product a real presence in the high-end cocktail bars where it is sold, but with the personal touch’.

Stuart Kellock, managing director, and Amy Chambers, sales manager, collected the award at the ceremony. Kellock commented: ‘It’s been a great year for awards and nominations. We’re over the moon to have snapped up Label of the Year. It’s pays homage to the fantastic talent of the Label Apeel team back in Leicester and the creative agencies that we work so closely with. We’re thrilled to have been chosen over the other big players on the shortlist. We’ll be celebrating for a long time to come.’
