CCL to close Avery operations in Massachusetts
CCL Industries has announced that it is to permanently close its Avery North American supply chain operations in Chicopee and Holliston, Massachusetts, commencing February 1, 2014.
CCL Industries acquired the office and consumer products, and designed and engineered solutions businesses of Avery Dennison earlier this year. It announced a new leadership and segment reporting structure for the purchased operations in July.
The closures are expected to impact 250 employees, and to complete before the end of next year.
Geoffrey T. Martin, president and chief executive officer of CCL Industries, said: ‘It is with great regret that we have to announce this news but it is very clear that our Avery business had been operating with significant excess capacity and infrastructure for some time prior to the change in ownership.
‘Operations will eventually be consolidated into existing Avery supply chain facilities located in the US, Canada and Mexico. 250 people will be affected by the change and a charge of approximately US$6 million will be booked in our fourth quarter financial statements as part of the overall restructuring plan that we have already announced.’
