Altro Industries expands into folding cartons with HP investment
The HP Indigo 35K press complements the company’s existing offerings in labels, packaging tapes and shrink sleeves.

Canadian printer Altro Industries has installed an HP Indigo 35K Digital Press to strengthen its position in the packaging industry by expanding into new markets and maintaining agility in an increasingly competitive landscape. This investment enables the company to enter the folding carton market, complementing its existing offerings in labels, packaging tapes, and shrink sleeves.
Previously, Altro Industries faced challenges sourcing folding cartons from vendors in Eastern Canada and the US, leading to high freight costs and exchange rate fluctuations.
With the HP Indigo 35K, the company can now produce folding cartons locally, offering competitive pricing and significantly reducing delivery lead times.
By eliminating reliance on distant suppliers, this investment not only resolves cost and logistical hurdles but also enhances Altro Industries’ ability to compete in the folding carton market with high-quality, locally produced solutions, with reduced freight costs and better lead times.
The ability to print folding cartons without printing plates has further enhanced production efficiency, reducing reliance on external suppliers while allowing for faster, more agile responses to customer orders.
With fast turnaround capabilities, the HP Indigo 35K enables Altro Industries to help clients remain competitive by reducing minimum order quantities and providing quicker access to packaging. This flexibility empowers local businesses to stay agile and respond more effectively to market demands.
This investment has also enabled Altro Industries to offer unified packaging products, enhancing its overall customer experience. As demand grows for sustainable, efficient, and customized packaging, driven by companies seeking to reduce waste, the press supports Altro Industries’ sustainability goals by enabling eco-friendly printing, minimizing waste, and improving material efficiency, all while lowering its carbon footprint.
‘By investing in HP’s Indigo 35K Digital Press, this has enabled us to offer high-quality, customizable packaging solutions with faster turnaround times and reduced minimum order quantities, allowing us to better support our clients and stay competitive in a rapidly evolving market. HP’s technology has helped streamline our production process and improve efficiency, ultimately driving growth and positioning our business for continued success in the packaging industry,’ Said Sam Naemi, chief operating officer of Altro Industries.
‘At HP, it’s important that we provide customers like Altro Industries with trailblazing technology like the HP Indigo 35K Digital Press, so they continue to grow, expand into new markets, and provide the best-quality service possible within fast turnaround times. Altro Industries plans to work closely with HP and explore other products like PrintOS and xRServices to streamline its operations, automate processes, and improve overall production efficiency.
