Referred to as the ‘Swiss Army Knife’ of printing because of its many uses, the new accreditation is for Konica Minolta’s AccurioJet KM-1e and KM-1e High Definition (HD) models, both evolutions of the original KM-1.

Fogra (Fogra Research Institute for Media Technologies) operates under the umbrella of the German Federation of the Industrial Research Association (AiF). It awarded FOGRA51, 52 and 59 accreditations for both models. The Konica Minolta AccurioJet KM-1e HD and KM-1e presses were also recognized in the Japan Color 2011 coated and GRACoL2013_CRPC6 profiling sections.

Three years ago, Konica Minolta became the world’s first press manufacturer and global solutions provider to achieve the FOGRA53 profile accreditation for its AccurioJet KM-1. Other awards include winning the ‘Best Cut-Sheet Color B2+ Printer’ accolade from the European Digital Press Association (EDP).

Konica Minolta’s KM-1 production presses help printers see the advantages of moving more production from offset to digital. Other benefits include the ability to carry out hybrid printing with the integration of the AccurioJet KM-1 series into existing processes, duplex printing, larger sheet sizes and the ability to print on a wide variety of coated and uncoated stock, including substrates such as packaging board, lightweight papers and textured stock.

‘Our AccurioJet KM-1 series presses are setting new benchmarks as inkjet continues to break new ground as a real growth engine for digital printing,’ commented Hidetoshi Omo, head of center of competence for KM-1 at Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe. ‘The announcement of more Fogra accreditation is extremely welcome – our KM-1 series presses continue to address wider sets of application needs, which is why they are referred to as the “Swiss army knife” of printing.

‘Working closely in partnership with our customers, we are helping them to ignite print possibilities in a sustainable way through injecting new-found creativity as they continue their digital transformation.’
