print-ID orders two machines from Grafotronic
New machines will replace two existing equipment and used in pre-printed and blank label finishing
print-ID Grünberg, Germany-based printID signed a purchase contract for two highly automated DCL2 finishing machines from Grafotronic in July 2023, after a visit to the Grafotronic plant in Warsaw during its Aspire event.
The newly ordered Grafotronic machines will replace two existing machines and will be used in the finishing of both pre-printed and blank labels. Both machines have two rotary die-cutting units with Q-Load – the automatic quick-change system for loading and unloading magnetic cylinders. In addition, both DCL2 are equipped with Grafotronic's unique IQ automation package. This feature enables the machine to perform job changes on its own and handle all job settings automatically. Grafotronic IQ works with a series of cameras that monitor the material web and automatically make the necessary adjustments (longitudinal and transverse). All at high speeds. The register sensors are also automatically brought into the correct position without the need for manual intervention.
When asked why they invested in Grafotronic technology, Sven Rühl, co-owner and managing director of print-ID GmbH & Co KG, said: ‘We consider Grafotronic to be the leading manufacturer of finishing machines in the field of automation. The available and excellent integration options of new modules and features fit into our own web-based PPS system and we can thus achieve significant improvements in efficiency in our workflow and maximize our productivity. We also received first-class and professional support and advice from Graficon Maschinenbau AG (responsible for sales of Grafotronic products in the DACH region). The communication during the offer phase was impeccable.’
Print-ID company founders and managing directors, Johannes Hess and Sven Rühl, knew each other as colleagues in the field of label and card printing. The know-how was bundled and print-ID GmbH & Co KG was founded in 2003. In the beginning, the company’s focus was exclusively on card printers and label printers. Over time, the idea grew to produce at reasonable prices high-quality labels on a roll. print-ID has grown into a label printing company and its core business includes labels of all kinds – printed and blank. Label printers and consumables are still part of the offer.
