Adare Advantage completes LM switch
Adare Advantage has switched all UV production at its Haverhill site to Zeller+Gmelin Uvaflex Y71 low migration (LM) inks, adhesives and varnishes.
The decision to move to a full conversion of UV print operations to LM inks was made to minimize the risk of ink migration and to comply with EU standard EC1935/2004.
Ink migration issue has been legislated on by the EU and addressed by many global brand owners.
Adare Advantage’s decision to switch to an LM ink system was made in 2012 and has taken it and Zeller+Gmelin over 12 months to fully implement successfully. The first machine to use the inks was a new press purchased in January 2013. It was viewed, as Adare implemented changes to its entire print process to Digital Flexo HD, that the ink system was a key modification.
The entire UV press base became fully LM in October 2013.
In a statement, Adare Advantage said: ‘The subject can be complicated, but the eventual decision to make this change to our operations was simple. We want to adhere to EU standards, reduce risk for our clients, protect their brands and further grow our market leading flexible packaging offering.’
The company added: ‘This is important to our clients as it eradicated any risk of cross contamination, whilst also giving us the competitive edge of being one of the first companies in the UK to fully implement this environment.’
