Printpack praised for printing achievement
Flexible packaging manufacturer Printpack has picked up four awards in the FPA’s Flexible Packaging Achievement Awards and Innovation Showcase 2014, including three for printing achievement.
The Yoplait Go-Gurt Color Shift Despicable Me 2 (pictured) won the manufacturer a gold printing achievement award, while the Crystal Light Mocktails and Whiskas Carne 500g entries were awarded silver in the same category.
The description of the Yoplait Go-Gurt Color Shift Despicable Me 2 packaging states that Printpack used innovations in thermochromic technology to help the makers of Go-Gurt launch an advertising promotion for Pixar’s Despicable Me 2. A three-part thermochromic ink system was perfected to change a purple Minion (when cold) to yellow as the product warms up and reaches room temperature. This ink changing technology is the first to provide these effects on a flexible format using a formaldehyde-free ink formula.
Meanwhile, the Cascadian Farms Cereal Liner gave Printpack silver in the sustainability and environmental achievement category.
Here, Printpack helped to design a primarily plant-based cereal liner for General Mills’ Cascadian Farm line of organic cereal that offers an alternative to less environmentally friendly plastic liners.
