Brigl & Bergmeister boosts production capacity

Brigl & Bergmeister has invested in a new Voith film press at its Niklasdorf mill that will contribute to a 5,000 ton capacity increase and higher energy efficiency.

The Voith SpeedSizer film press is for Brigl & Bergmeister’s paper machine at the Brigl & Bergmeister Niklasdorf mill

The Voith SpeedSizer film press is for Brigl & Bergmeister’s paper machine at the Niklasdorf mill, and will replace a conventional size unit.

In addition, a non-contact, energy-efficient, compact infrared and air-drying combination (qDry Pro) will be installed, and the steam and condensate systems, as well as the air-handling system, will be modified.

Installation is scheduled for September 2015, as an addition to the new headbox already installed in April this year.

Brigl & Bergmeister stated that these investments will increase annual capacity at the Niklasdorf mill by 5,000 tons, and bring about a reduction in energy consumption.

It added that, in addition to improvements in the quality of the existing product range, this will make it possible to develop innovative specialty papers.

Further, modernization and extension measures are being implemented at the Brigl & Bergmeister Vevče mill in Slovenia. Initiated in 2013 with the installation of a film press, the developments are focused on improving of the barrier properties of flexible packaging papers, amongst other advances.

Brigl & Bergmeister added that it is expanding the capacity to produce wet-strength label papers at both mills so to allow the company to expand its position as a global market leader in label papers for the beverage industry.
