Sign & Seal Labels invests in Screen Truepress 350UV SAI-S

South African converter strengthens its position in the regional wine label printing market.

South African wine label specialist Sign & Seal Labels has invested in a new Screen Truepress Label 350UV SAI-S digital press to meet clients' growing demand for customization and flexibility and maintain its competitive edge in the market.

‘We’re intensely aware of the need to up our game in a market where customization, shorter runs and flexibility are increasingly demanded by wine producers. Our customers are requesting more specialized label finishes, such as foiling and embossing,’ said Henk Crous, Sign & Seal Labels owner. ‘It is imperative for my company to embrace digital innovation to maintain a competitive edge in the wine labelling market.’

The new Screen Label 350UV SAI-S 7-color press has significantly expanded the color gamut in label printing and supported the company’s variable data printing requests. This enables Sign & Seal Labels to meet the stringent requirements of the wine label industry, including security-conscious labeling for product authentication.

‘The machine’s variable data printing feature allows for the inclusion of minute details and text, ensuring compliance with tight regulatory requirements. The use of micro-droplets supports all major types of security printing, including QR and barcodes as well as dot codes and security tint patterns,’ added Crous.

Sign & Seal Labels expects the new investment to contribute to its sustainability goals.

‘With a 60m/m printing speed, the Screen Truepress Label 350UV SAI-S press delivers consistently high print quality while maintaining cost-effectiveness. Its efficiency and reliability exceed traditional analogue machines, delivering three times the productivity levels while maintaining exceptional quality and consistency,’ commented Crous. ‘With the SAI-S 7-color model, the time required for preparation work has been dramatically shortened compared to an analogue press. The machine helps us streamline our operations and reduce waste.’

Sign & Seal Labels acquired and installed the new Screen system in close partnership with Rotocon, Screen’s agent and service provider in South Africa.

‘By embracing digital innovation, Sign & Seal Labels is poised to strengthen its leading position in the wine labelling industry,’ commented Michael Aengenvoort, CEO of Rotocon group.
