KBA secures success with realigned Japanese footprint
- KBA Japan formed in Tokyo as new Japanese subsidiary

- Sells Rapida 106 to Taisei Co. Ltd

Koenig & Bauer (KBA) has ramped up its sales and service activities in Japan with the founding of the new subsidiary, KBA Japan in Tokyo.

The managing director of the new company is Kenneth Hansen, and he has worked in the Asian graphic arts industry for over 35 years.

As chief executive officer of manroland Northeast Asia, he was responsible for the Korean and Japanese markets for eight years before moving to KBA.

KBA's realignment of its activities in Japan is already bearing fruit, with Taisei Co. Ltd ordering a highly-automated medium format Rapida 106 for delivery at the start of 2013.

The press to be installed is an eight-color model with dedicated accessory packages for plastic substrates, board handling and alternating UV/conventional operation.

Taisei prints backlit display graphics for the vending machine industry. The substrates are transparent films (polyethylene) in thicknesses between 0.2mm and 0.4mm. This work had in the past been handled by presses from another German manufacturer.
