Macfarlane Group looks to resealable labels
Resealable labels is a product category that Macfarlane Group has identified as one that it is focusing on after reporting ‘encouraging’ performance in its interim statement.
Macfarlane Group has recorded profits slightly ahead of the same period in 2012, with revenue from packaging distribution activities up two percent on the previous year. Revenue from its manufacturing operations was down slightly, due to ‘a continuing focus on added value products and services,’ according to Macfarlane Group chairman Graeme Bissett.
‘As a result margins have continued to improve and compare favorably to 2012.’
Macfarlane Group has three primary business units, packaging distribution, labels, and packaging design and manufacture, with its labels operation specializing in the design, printing and supply of self-adhesive and resealable labels for FMCG manufacturers. The Macfarlane Labels product portfolio also includes the Reseal-it concept, which is designed to facilitate easily opened packaging that can be reclosed to preserve product freshness and reduce food waste.
Bissett added: ‘The main trends evident in our business in 2012 have continued in 2013. Our major market is in the UK and we are not anticipating any general increase in demand which would help our sales. However, we are focused on those areas, such as internet retailing and resealable labels, where we have good sales momentum and which display real growth potential.’
