Stora Enso introduces improved Tambrite

Stora Enso is reducing the basis weight of its Tambrite packaging board to improve its efficiency and environmental performance.

Tambrite is widely used in pharmaceutical, food, chocolate and confectionery packaging

Tambrite is widely used in pharmaceutical, food, chocolate and confectionery packaging. The reduction of the basis weight of the board provides benefits throughout the supply chain by generating savings in raw materials, less weight in storage and transportation, less packaging waste and fees, and a lower carbon footprint.

Tambrite is produced at Stora Enso’s Ingerois Mill in Finland. The mill will gradually introduce the new, lower grammage range in production to enable a smooth switch and flexible board deliveries to all customers who use Tambrite in their packages.

Öystein Aksnes, general packaging segment director at Stora Enso, said: ‘Tambrite will be an even more efficient and environmentally friendly choice than ever before. Yet it will offer the same outstanding performance in the most demanding applications such as pharmaceutical packaging with laser or inkjet coding or Braille embossing.’
