Trelleborg to launch new Vulcan offset printing blanket

Sweden’s Trelleborg, a global manufacturer of offset printing blankets and sleeves, is to launch the latest addition to its Vulcan range at Drupa, the Synthesis Evo.

Trelleborg said the Vulcan Synthesis Evo is its next generation of sleeve development for the heatset sector and has been specifically designed to “significantly improve print quality and lifetime performance”.

The new printing sleeve has been developed for use on all sleeve web presses whereby the sleeve is mounted in a fixed radial position. The Vulcan Synthesis Evo has a continuous print surface providing full bleed printing capability so that the plate image length is maximized to the available plate cylinder print area. Its internal construction provides continuous image transfer throughout the plate cut-off area, resulting in minimal paper waste from the plate cylinder non-print area, according to Trelleborg.

Trelleborg Printing Solutions managing director Thomas Linkenheil said: ‘The new composite base of the sleeve provides improved holding power to the press cylinder after mounting, thereby eliminating all radial movement during printing, ensuring exact synchronization with the plate gap. In addition, it is extremely durable, resisting damage from dents and dings associated with handling during installation and removal.

‘The highly engineered compression layer gives increased value by maintaining printing pressure load over millions of impressions and the print surface compound has been designed with improved abrasion resistance to automatic blanket washing systems. In addition, all layers of the Vulcan Synthesis Evo have been designed to provide solvent resistance to low VOC press chemistry.’
