Blaschke succeeds Lundeen as ECMA president

The European Carton Makers Association (ECMA) has appointed Andreas Blaschke (pictured) as its new president, succeeding Per Lundeen.

Currently managing director of Mayr-Melnhof Packaging International, Blaschke, who holds a PhD in law and a Master Degree in business, has held a number of management functions in controlling, business development and sales.  He was located in Singapore for three years with responsibility for the development of the Asian market.

He was appointed to the position at ECMA’s 2010 annual congress in Barcelona, having previously served as vice president and chairman of the association’s strategy committee.  Blaschke succeeds Per Lundeen, chief executive officer of A&R Carton, who completed his three-year term in that capacity, but will remain active as an executive committee member.

The transition of leadership coincides with the adoption of ECMA’s new structure, for which the formal procedures were completed under Lundeen’s presidency.  Under Blaschke’s leadership, ECMA will implement its Roadmap 2015, the ambitious programme announced at ECMA’s 50th anniversary in 2010.  The programme aims to strengthen the association’s role as a dynamic platform for European carton businesses, national carton associations and suppliers to the carton industry.  To manage this process and drive the development, the association will enlarge its professional staff with an executive vice president to be appointed at the secretariat in The Hague, Netherlands.
