ScanSource Europe POS and barcoding names MD

ScanSource has appointed Maurice van Rijn as managing director of the company’s ScanSource Europe POS and barcoding business unit.

He will be responsible for leading the strategic direction and management of sales, product marketing and inventory management for the company’s pan-European operations.

van Rijn joined ScanSource in May 2002 as part of the company’s acquisition of ABC Distribution and has 23 years of sales and sales management experience in IT distribution to the role. He previously served as sales director for nine years where he was said to be instrumental in the success of ScanSource’s European operations, launched in 2002.

‘Maurice has been a key part of the team that led the company to become one of the largest value-added distributors in Europe,’ said Xavier Cartiaux, president of international operations, ScanSource. ‘We are confident that not only will Maurice use his experience and talents to continue to build on the strong partnerships that we have with resellers and vendors but will also continue to work with all our internal team to enhance the already vast range of value-added services we provide partners at both ends of the channel. He will bring strong leadership and clear direction to the role.’

van Rijn’s promotion to managing director of the POS and barcoding business follows the appointment of Mr Cartiaux to the role of president of international operations, ScanSource.

ScanSource Europe helps resellers to grow their business through services, such as stock management, financial services, free-of-charge technical support, professional services and customer services. van Rijn will be looking to continue to enhance that offering with unique tools, such as the existing online mobile application store AppSource, international partner-matching tool SUMO and the recently upgraded pre-shipment configuration services.
