Soma opens Czech technology and training center
Soma Engineering has officially opened its Soma Globe technology and training center at Lanskroun in the Czech Republic.
The opening was combined with the company’s Open House event in May, and ran concurrently with a flexo conference held at Lanskroun castle under the theme “Challenge the Future”.
The conference addressed the issues faced by package printers and spot color management, a more and more important factor in evaluating print quality, as well as the ongoing sustainability debate associated with problems of waste.
Live machinery demonstrations were given at the Soma Globe center, looking at both theory and practice with the focus on the demands of the end user, with more than 170 visitors from over 21 countries in attendance.
Demonstrations included jobs printed on Soma Premia and Imperia printing presses, and slitting and laminating equipment.
Soma also used the event to introduce its new spot color management system with re-use of ink and 100 percent “in spec” color guarantee.
Soma said the technology and training center marks a milestone in the company’s 20-year history of manufacturing machinery for the flexible packaging industry, and will be used to develop new ideas and provide technical solutions and training for Soma customers.
