Avery Dennison honors supply chain partners
Avery Dennison Label and Graphic Materials has recognized eight of its pressure-sensitive industry supplier chain partners for their work to ‘deliver value to our customers’.
Winners were selected based on their performance in areas such as sustainability, innovation, service and quality.
The ‘Best Supplier Sustainability’ award went to Eneco Wind of Belgium, which demonstrated both leadership and action to align with Avery Dennison’s sustainability policy to use responsibly sourced materials, comply with third-party verification processes, and show clear commitment to innovation and continuous improvement. Eneco Wind partnered with Avery Dennison to build and launch a wind turbine at Avery Dennison’s Turnhout, Belgium plant, intended to supply a third of the plant's energy demand while also lowering the company’s energy costs.
BASF S.A. took the ‘Best Supplier Innovation’ prize, having partnered closely with Avery Dennison last year to develop a specific, high-growth product segment – acrylic film adhesives – in Brazil and Argentina.
‘Best Supplier Quality’ was won by Sappi for delivering defect-free material said to have exceeded the expectations of Avery Dennison and its customers. As one of the company’s global paper suppliers, Sappi not only grew its business with Avery Dennison last year, but did so while reducing its defect rate to claimed 'best-in-class' levels.
Gantrade of the US was named ‘Best Supplier Service’ for its work to ensure the supply of acrylic and vinyl acetate monomers, even in the face of hurricanes in the US and a major force majeure situation in Europe. This award was presented to the supplier Avery Dennison deemed to have constantly met availability targets and found ways to reduce overall supplied lead times.
This year’s ‘Best Emerging Supplier’, according to Avery Dennison, was Taiwan’s Sumei Chemical. This award goes to the supplier that is growing with Avery Dennison globally while meeting quality, service and innovation targets. As an emerging vendor in the chemical area, Avery Dennison said Sumei has distinguished itself as being fast to market, cost-effective and a collaborator with Avery Dennison’s R&D and operations teams when it comes to commercializing projects.
Other awards went to GP Lux (‘Best Indirect Supplier’) and USF Holland ('Best Transportation Supplier')
A new award, ‘Supplier Distinction’, was introduced this year by Avery Dennison to highlight a supplier said to ‘make extraordinary contributions to our success’. The inaugural winner was global logistics provider Jerich International, which has offered tailor-made transport options to enable Avery Dennison to deliver products to customers efficiently and effectively.
‘Our suppliers play a key role in our mission to deliver value to our customers,’ said Roland Simon, global vice president of procurement and corporate sustainability, Avery Dennison Label and Graphic Materials. ‘This ceremony serves as a platform to showcase our suppliers’ innovations and outstanding support, and to thank them for their collaboration and consistent performance.’
This was the company’s fifth annual supplier recognition ceremony, and was held on March 12-13 in Oegstgeest, the Netherlands.
