Flexcon launches medical device tracking and labeling technology

Flexcon Global, a provider of innovative coatings, film laminations, and functional technologies, has launched MedFlex, a product line of polyester printable films and overlaminates for lifetime medical device labeling and tracking.

This line of label substrates meets all performance criteria required by the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) unique device identifier (UDI) rule for FDA Class I, II, and III medical devices used outside the body.

MedFlex reduces complexity with a simplified product offering, making it easier for customers and specifiers to select appropriate products for medical devices. This portfolio features a permanent solvent-based biocompatible adhesive, with raw material components locked down to ensure consistent quality and performance.

MedFlex Plus and MedFlex Overlam products are UL-recognized in accordance with UL/IEC 60601-1 3rd edition marking durability rub tests. Moreover, MedFlex Plus films are UL Verified (V487460) with six additional cleaning agents per IEC 60601-1. MedFlex products are available for immediate UL adoption, with basic adoption fees being credited by Flexcon upon reaching a predetermined purchase threshold.

‘MedFlex Plus printable polyesters open up market opportunities for converters and printers and give them a head start in delivering immediately adoptable, UL-recognized label materials designed specifically for the medical device industry,’ said Melissa David, manager of product management at Flexcon.

‘MedFlex Plus polyester products utilize Flexcon’s best thermal transfer printable topcoats. In addition, these products are backed with a 30 percent post-consumer waste liner, ideal for meeting sustainability goals. If added label protection is needed, MedFlex Overlam options are the perfect complement to the MedFlex Plus offering,’ concluded David.
