Invercote chosen again as substrate for exclusive drink packaging
-  Aalborg Jule Akvavit sold in numbered bottles to underline limited status

- Carton converted by Sweden’s Frontpac

Danske Spritfabriker opted for Iggesund Paperboard’s Invercote Duo Aluprint as the substrate of choice for the packaging used for its Aalborg Jule Akvavit, a Christmas beverage that is now sold in numbered bottles to underline its limited edition status.

The Danish distiller, which is now owned by France’s Pernod Ricard, has produced Aalborg Jule Akvavit for more than three decades.

Pernod Ricard said Jule Akvavit has become a highly prized collectors’ object around the world.

The company receives many phone calls all through the autumn from would-be purchasers who are impatient to see what the latest bottle will look like.

This year’s edition of Jule Akvavit comes in a blue bottle with a unique design. The elegant shape was inspired by the aquavit itself and is called “The Drop” in an obvious reference to the liquid’s clear drops.

For the second year in a row Aalborg Jule Akvavit was packaged in a carton made of Invercote.

For Christmas 2011, Danske Spritfabriker chose to use Invercote Duo Metalprint (pictured, above) for the carton, while in 2012 it went with Invercote Duo Aluprint (pictured, top).

The carton was converted by Frontpac in Lund, Sweden.
