Schur Flexibles makes strategic acquisitions across Europe
Austria-based Schur Flexibles Group has acquired multiple sites from Clondalkin Group, strengthening its position in premium packaging for the confectionery and tea markets.
This has seen it acquire Cats-Hänsel, including Cats Flexibles Packaging in the Netherlands and Hänsel Flexible Packaging in Germany, and Nimax, also in the Netherlands.
The three locations with around 135 employees generated a sales volume of over €30 million (US$37.4 million) in 2017. With these acquisitions, Schur identified that turnover is likely to grow to over €400 million (US$499.3 million) in 2018. In the segment wax, paper and film packaging for confectionery alone, Schur Flexibles has a turnover of over €80 million (US$99.8 million).
Michael Schernthaner, Schur Flexibles Group managing director, said: ‘These companies fit perfectly into our growth strategy. In parallel, we are investing in our plant network to build up our highly specialized production locations further and thus creating additional added value for our customers.’
