Systems Labelling launches Ecoplas

Systems Labelling has launched Ecoplas, a synthetic alternative to paper labels used on plastic bottles.

Ecoplas labels are able to be applied to plastic bottles which currently use paper labels, and are fully recyclable, spill-resistant due to a wipe clean laminated finish, and can be supplied with a gloss or matte varnish.

Systems Labelling said recycling trials have shown synthetic labels peel away more easily during the recycling process, resulting in over 90 percent label removal.

The waste labels are then recycled into polyolefin compounds, whereas adhesive paper labels break down and create a pulp that causes colour contamination, and has to be collected and sent to landfill.

Business development director Stephen Lloyd said: ‘Our infrastructure and continuous appetite for new product development is a core strength.

‘This platform enables us to both generate new innovations but also industrialize labeling solutions effectively, therefore delivering the necessary commercial appeal and offer an improved finish quality when compared to the paper equivalent.’
