UPM receives platinum EcoVadis score

The company has been placed amongst the top 1 percent of 130,000 companies assessed.

EcoVadis has awarded UPM a platinum score based on the company’s sustainability performance in four categories: environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. Only 1 percent of the 130,000 global companies assessed received a platinum rating.

EcoVadis assesses the performance of globally operating companies in more than 220 purchasing categories and more than 180 countries. The rating is based on a comprehensive assessment of the companies’ sustainability activities, including verified public information on supply chain practices.

‘The feedback from Ecovadis, both on strengths and areas of improvement, is extremely valuable and helps us to continuously improve our sustainability performance,’ said Sami Lundgren, vice president of responsibility at UPM.

‘In this year’s assessment, I would like to highlight our good scores in labor and human rights and related policies. Our commitments and transparent reporting in areas such as health and safety, gender pay equity, living wage, and diversity and inclusion, demonstrate our intention to improve performance and mitigate risks,’ added Lundgren.  ‘UPM’s top rating also recognizes the work we have done to promote sustainability throughout the value chain.

‘We have a comprehensive sustainable supply chain program that drives compliance and risk mitigation and helps achieve our environmental, social, and governance targets and ambitions.’
