Iggesund to formally open biomass plant in UK
Material supplier Iggesund Paperboard is to inaugurate its new biomass CHP plant at its Workington Mill with a formal ceremony at the end of May.
Iggesund has spent two years and £108 million building the facility, which has lowered its fossil carbon emissions from 190,000 annual tonnes to almost zero. The company said it equates to taking 65,000 cars off the road for good.
The formal inauguration will take place on MY 28 at the Workington site, and the board of directors of the Holmen Group, to which Iggesund belongs, will attend.
Baroness Verma, parliamentary under secretary of state for the Department of Energy and Climate Change, will perform the inauguration ceremony together with Fredrik Lundberg, chairman of the Holmen board of directors.
