Labelcraft Products develops 100 percent recyclable release liner
Labelcraft Products, a Canada=based self-adhesive label manufacturer, has developed a first-of-its-kind release liner made of 100 percent recycled material, which the company says can be recycled in local facilities.
The Recyclable EnviroLiner can be used in a variety of face stocks including films, gloss, thermal transfer, EDP and direct thermal. Labelcraft is currently in discussions with global label stock manufacturers to produce this new product.
Traditionally, release liners have been unrecyclable because they are coated in large amounts of silicone. However, after many years of research and development, Labelcraft has overcome this issue. The Recyclable EnviroLiner is made of 100 percent recycled paper and can be recycled in local recycling facilities. The product allows converters to use standard presses and customers to use their standard printers.
In North America it is estimated that nearly 1,200,000 tons of liners are dumped into landfills annually. The Recyclable EnviroLiner is the first product that will allow suppliers and customers to work towards 100 percent landfill-free facilities, the company says.
Labelcraft was established in 1967, and manufactures industrial labels and custom printed promotional products. It is currently headquartered in Pickering, Ontario, Canada.
