UK retailer to bring RFID into stores

Marks and Spencer has revealed plans to apply radio frequency identification(RFID) labels to individual high-value food products. According to the retailer's intellectual property director James Stafford, labels could incorporate information for consumers such as ingredients or even suggestions on what wine goes best with the food product. Consumers will be able to access the information via readers located in stores. Stafford says information contained in the labels could also be conveyed to consumers through their mobile phones.
