Saturn UV to distribute Hoya LED UV technology in UK

Saturn UV has signed an agreement with a Japanese company, Hoya, to distribute its LED UV technology for digital printing in the UK and Ireland.

Hoya is one of the largest LED UV curing technology suppliers in Japan, with ambitious expansion plans onto the European market. It is already supplying its products in Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Czech Republic, and China.

Hoya UV systems are the latest development in an air-cooled LED UV curing for digital print applications offering a small footprint, without the need for cooling ducts, large fans, or water chillers and piping. 

According to Saturn UV, LED UV curing systems bring significant benefits and an instant cure as they use 40 percent less electrical energy, run much cooler on the substrate, and are instant on/off with no start-up times, or the need for standby shutters. 

The company claims that Hoya technology can last for up to 25000 production hours as opposed to an arc lamp needing replacement at around 2000 hours. The LED’s produce a particular wavelength matched to the LED curable inks, and these wave lengths produce no ozone, so there is no need to extract it to the atmosphere.
