Innovia develops high yield white BOPP film
Innovia films has developed a cavitated BOPP base film, Rayoface QBD, designed for pressure-sensitive labeling applications.
QBD will service many market segments such as household, personal care, food and beverage, and other consumer packaged goods sectors. This development also completes Innovia’s range of films for all major label applications.
According to the company, low density, high yield films manufactured with less sophisticated technology often require a compromise regarding whiteness, opacity and stiffness. The new five-layer technology of the Innovia Films Zacapu line results in high-performance base films that still give superb economics and yield. QBD offers an opacity of 86 percent and has been engineered to be FDA-approved for food contact label applications and compatibility with adhesives and printing inks.
‘For additional economies of scale, QBD is manufactured and shipped from our Zacapu, Mexico plant in rolls of over 40,000 ft (12,500 m) to help reduce changeover time and increase efficiencies,’ said the company in a statement. ‘Our team in the Winston Salem HQ works closely with the plant and is here to support new business scale-ups with quick and efficient manufacturing and shipment.’
