Canon EMEA appoints new president and CEO

Canon EMEA, a global provider of imaging, print technologies and services, appointed Shinichi ‘Sam’ Yoshida as president and CEO for Canon Europe, Middle East and Africa, succeeding Yuichi Ishizuka, who is retiring after seven years in the role and a 44-year career with Canon.

Yoshida was previously based in the US where he held the position of executive vice president and general manager of the marketing strategy unit, and chairman and CEO of Canon Solutions America and Canon Financial Services. He will assume his new responsibilities as president and CEO of Canon EMEA on March 1.

He takes over a regional sales organization that has operations in 120 countries, employs approximately 12,300 people and contributes about a quarter of Canon’s global revenues annually.

Yoshida is tasked with bolstering and growing existing core businesses while expanding into new areas such as B2B imaging, industrial and commercial printing and information management. He brings expertise in manufacturing and recycling, having been part of the original team that established Canon Virginia, Canon’s major manufacturing site in the Americas.

'Canon is the market leader in imaging and print technologies with millions of customers throughout EMEA. This diverse and exciting region is full of opportunity, and I am honored to be leading the business through the next phase of innovation and growth,' Yoshida said.

Ishizuka, president and CEO of Canon EMEA, held senior positions globally over his 44-year career, including in Japan, the US and Canada. A highlight of his career was launching the Cinema EOS range in the US, transforming film shooting and creating mainstay video products.

Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) has promoted Mike Faiers to chief operations officer, who will lead the team in developing and refining processes and procedures, including service and support, logistics and the wider supply chain.

Mike Faiers joined Konica Minolta in 2021 as its chief technology officer to drive innovation and deliver products and services that meet its customers’ current and future workplace challenges.

Assuming the new role of chief operations officer, his remit is to develop and refine processes and procedures that position Konica Minolta even closer to its customers, providing them with the products, care and support they need throughout every stage of their journey.

Boisson brings extensive experience from his tenure at Imerys, a multinational manufacturing company recognized as one of the global leaders in mineral-based specialties. Finat has announced Murat Sipahioglu as the new jury chairman of the annual Finat Label Competition. The competition recognizes and highlights the advantages and uses of self-adhesive labels and flexible packaging as an effective marketing, promotional or identification tool.

Next to regular judge Steve Wood, who has been assigned the L9 World Label Association Awards chairmanship, Murat has been a senior judge for the Finat Label Competition since 2009. He has built up an extensive knowledge of the processes used in label production from a technical and marketing viewpoint. He has worked for several notable companies in the label industry. He is employed with Heidelberger Druckmaschinen in Turkey, holding the Gallus product and marketing manager position. He has also been a significant member of the Turkish Label Association for many years and was deeply involved in the TLA label competition.

Past jury chairman Tony White commented: 'He is a team player with high integrity and always contributes immensely to the final judging process. He is a capable team leader and will lead and encourage any new judging panel members. Moreover, he will uphold the level of trust for which the competition is noted and apply his technical knowledge and expertise to ensure that the high standards which have been the cornerstone of the competition for many years are upheld.'

In response, Murat said: 'It took me a while to appreciate the label itself and its importance on the packaging of a product, but learning and understanding everything about the label business from the best in the industry and working alongside Tony and Steve for 15 years has made me the professional I am today. We make a good and fun team, and I look forward to working with my fellow judges for many years to come.'

In 2025, Finat will also welcome Phil Baldwin, technical sales manager for narrow mid-web at Bobst, UK, and Fahri Ilazi, head of sales and customer service for flexible dies at Kocher+Beck, Germany, as two new judges.

Entries for the competition will be accepted till February 25.

Narrow web printing ink specialist Pulse Roll Label Products (Pulse) has welcomed Przemysław Juszczyk to its team in Poland, strengthening the company’s position in the country and beyond.

Juszczyk brings vast experience to the narrow web ink manufacturer’s operation in Poland – Pulse Polska. He has a strong background in print, having trained in printing, worked at a printing house, and most recently served as a sales manager at Reprograf Grafikus for almost 15 years.

In his new role, Juszczyk will support Pulse’s customers in Eastern Poland and Slovakia. Colleague Artur Mansfeld, Pulse Polska sales manager, will focus on serving customers in Western Poland and Czech Republic.

Pulse Roll Label Products managing director Gary Seward said: ‘We are delighted to welcome Przemysław to the Pulse family. His experience and skills make him a highly valuable asset to the Pulse Polska team and our growth ambitions for the region.

‘Since we formally opened Pulse Polska early last year, the business has gone from strength to strength.
