Mexican converter invests in Bobst F&K 90SIX pre-print press

- Seven-company group produces a range of packaging
- F&K 90SIX features technologies from advanced compact presses for flexible packaging
Bobst Bielefeld, formerly Fischer & Krecke, has sold a 2.2m-wide Bobst F&K 90SIX CI pre-print flexo press and peripherals to Mexico’s Grupo Gondi.
Grupo Gondi is a leading Mexican paper and packaging converter, with more than 58 years of experience in the industry. The activities of the seven companies that form the group include the production of semi-kraft and coated paper, corrugated and pre-printed boxes, solid fibre containers, laminated and folding carton containers.
Grupo Gondi Group employs 3,900 people and its products are present in over 175 countries.
The F&K 90SIX features exactly the same technologies as Bobst’s most advanced compact presses for flexible packaging, including all the same gains in efficiency and flexibility. Carbon fiber mandrels and specially developed auxiliary equipment allow for fastest changeovers, even with the largest repeats of up to 2,060mm and the widest working widths.
Together with the new press, Grupo Gondi has purchased smartGPS, Bobst’s unique technology for impression and registration setting.
Set-up is carried out off-line during the mounting stage, instead of in the press, thereby reducing substrate waste and time close to zero. This means not only a vast cost saving potential, but at the same time opens doors to new markets as even the smallest orders can still be produced efficiently. The F&K 90SIX delivers printed images close to offset quality, at high speeds up to 500m/min.
