BW Converting to focus on precision, control and speed at Labelexpo

BW Converting’s brands, Paper Converting Machine Company (PCMC) and Baldwin Technology have prepared a comprehensive suite of technologies showcasing how to tackle key industry challenges at the upcoming Labelexpo Americas 2024.

Leading the PCMC lineup at booth #842 will be the ION hybrid press with full modularity and customizable digital CMYK and flexo print stations.

It is designed to handle speeds of up to 120 m/min and web widths of 915, 1,056 and 1,320 mm for paper, film and folding cartons. This translates to an output capacity of up to 161 sqm/min, representing an 800 percent increase in productivity.

The Meridian Elite laser anilox roll cleaner will also be in the spotlight. It doesn't require water, heat, chemicals or an air supply and ensures deep cleaning of all types of printing and coating rolls.

The copay will also promote PCMC’s Fusion wide-web flexographic press series, which features energy and time-saving advancements such as automatic drum cleaning and impression setting.

Rounding out the PCMC label technologies presented at Labelexpo will be the ELS MAX in-line flexo printing press, designed for rapid changeovers and minimizing waste and setup time.

BW Converting will showcase its range of Baldwin inspection, LED curing, and corona treatment technologies tailored to the narrow web flexo market.

Baldwin's new PQV 4.0 process-optimization tool has been developed to enhance the inspection process with its automated, intuitive user experience, reducing the risk of human error and improving accuracy. PQV 4.0 can detect errors and faults with micrometer precision and provides a detailed report for correcting the mistakes.

At Labelexpo, Baldwin will also present the Corona SlimLine surface treatment, which bonds ink onto plastics, making it suitable for label printing and narrow web applications. The compact system provides power, electrode settings, and comfortable and ergonomic handling, operation and cleaning.

The company will also highlight the new Baldwin Unity LED curing system, designed for various presses and finishing equipment, which maximizes performance while reducing power consumption by up to 60 percent compared to traditional curing methods.

Unity LED uses advanced quartz optics that collimate the UV light to sustain higher UV intensity at distances further from the lamphead.
