Pivot Solutions unveils wide-web plate mounter at Labelexpo India

India-based equipment manufacturer Pivot Solutions launched its first large plate mounter, made for servo print sleeves, at Labelexpo India 2024. The semi-automatic plate mounter is designed to minimize downtime.

‘Our new model of this plate mounter will assist and ensure quick and easy mounting of printing plates for all the stations of a CI flexo press from Comexi of 1270 mm printing width. It's able to mount plates from all repeat length sleeves of different diameters that fit into the Comexi machines. It can fit any kind of sleeves that need plates to be mounted,’ said Hayat Rafique, founder and CEO of Pivot Solutions. ‘Most importantly, you can mount plates for multiple jobs in a single pass.’ 

The product has four cameras instead of the traditionally used two cameras and all the mechanically moving parts are server-controlled, enabling the operator to reduce the mounting time of the plates.

In most instances, when the operators do not get the printing right, they remove the sleeve of the machine, bring it back to the plate mounter, try to find errors, remove the plate and mount it again in a rather tedious process.

‘The number of hours spent (doing this) is downtime on a machine that's millions and millions of dollars,’ remarked Rafique. ‘This time is far more expensive than making a low-cost investment toward the preparatory equipment for the machine. When the process becomes so smooth that you don't even remember to mention that the plates were mounted on this plate mounter is when we have achieved what we wanted to achieve.’

Besides this product, Pivot Solutions also displayed its regular-sized plate mounter and UV cassettes that are custom-made at its booth N38.
