Parkside has been shortlisted for two Flexographic Industry Association UK’s (FIAUK) awards

The FIAUK awards are highly regarded by flexographic print and packaging experts worldwide and recognize outstanding commitment to the flexographic print process.

The company’s paper, recyclable flexible packing for frozen food created for Iceland’s Northcoast range of frozen seafood has been selected in the technical innovation category. The packaging represents the first successful application of paper flexible packaging on frozen seafood.

Parkside is also shortlisted for packaging collaboration with sustainable food brand Riverford Organics, which enabled the company to move away from conventional plastic-based packaging. Riverford has now switched all its packaging to flexible paper recyclable and compostable pulp punnets for soft fruits and mushrooms.

‘Environmental responsibility is a significant concern for customers following widespread concern over plastic pollution and waste,’ commented Paula Birch, global sales director at Parkside. ‘Packaging is at the forefront of this debate and requires new innovative solutions to ensure companies are aligning to consumer attitudes and utilizing packaging that is good for the environment.

‘These two solutions form part of our sustainable packaging portfolio, helping to address end-of-life challenges and consumer behaviors. We’re extremely proud to see that our industry-leading innovations in this area have been recognized with these FIAUK Award shortlistings.’
